Enter your subjects and grade points, then press Calculate — your CGPA appears here.

Percentage conversion can vary by institution. This tool uses the common CGPA × 9.5 formula as an approximation — check your university's official method before submitting anything formal.

How to use this calculator

  1. Add your subjects. Three rows are ready — use + Add subject for as many as you need, and the × button to remove a row.
  2. Enter each grade point on the 0–10 scale your institution uses.
  3. Credits are optional. If you know them, fill them in for a credit-weighted CGPA — otherwise leave the column empty for a simple average.
  4. Press Calculate to see your CGPA, the approximate percentage and the method used. Copy the result with one click.

Useful information

CGPA — Cumulative Grade Point Average — summarises your performance across subjects in one number. This calculator supports both of the ways it is usually computed.

Credit-weighted CGPA

When credits are available, each grade point is multiplied by the subject's credits, the products are added up, and the total is divided by the sum of credits: CGPA = Σ(grade point × credits) ÷ Σ(credits). This is the fairer method because a 4-credit subject influences your average more than a 1-credit one.

Simple average CGPA

Without credits, the calculator averages your grade points equally. It is quick and perfectly reasonable when every subject carries the same weight.

Converting CGPA to a percentage

A widely used approximation is CGPA × 9.5, so a CGPA of 8.4 is roughly 79.8%. Some institutions use 9.0, 10.0 or their own scale entirely — for applications, transcripts and scholarships, always use your institution's official conversion.

Frequently asked questions

How is CGPA calculated?

CGPA is the average of your grade points. If credits are given, it is a weighted average: multiply each grade point by its credits, add them up, and divide by the total credits. Without credits, a simple average of the grade points is used.

How do I convert CGPA to percentage?

Many institutions multiply CGPA by 9.5 to get a percentage, which this tool shows as an approximation. The exact formula varies between universities, so always use your institution's official conversion for formal applications.

What is the difference between CGPA and GPA?

GPA usually covers one semester or term, while CGPA is the cumulative average across all semesters or subjects completed so far.

Can I use this calculator without credit hours?

Yes. Leave the credits column empty and the calculator uses a simple average of your grade points instead of a credit-weighted average.

Are my grades stored anywhere?

No. All calculations happen locally in your browser — your marks are never uploaded or saved by Jivora.
