How to use this text cleaner

Useful information
Pasted text is rarely clean. Word processors and websites hide characters you can't see — double spaces after sentences, tabs, non-breaking spaces, curly quotes — and those invisible extras break code, forms and spreadsheets later.
What each fix does
Collapse extra spaces turns runs of spaces and tabs between words into a single space. Trim every line removes leading and trailing whitespace, including the trailing spaces that sneak in at line ends. Remove blank-line runs keeps paragraph breaks but collapses three or more blank lines down to one. Straighten smart punctuation converts curly quotes and ellipses (…) into plain ASCII equivalents.
What it deliberately doesn't do
No words are rewritten, no lines are joined or split, and single line breaks are preserved exactly. This is whitespace and punctuation hygiene — not a rewriter. If you also need repeated lines removed, that's the dedicated Duplicate Line Remover.

What does this tool clean up?
Double spaces, tabs between words, leading and trailing whitespace on every line, runs of blank lines, and smart (curly) quotes and ellipses that cause problems in code and forms. Each fix is a separate toggle, so you only apply the ones you want.
Will it change my wording or line breaks?
No. The cleaner never adds, removes or reorders words, and single line breaks stay exactly where they are — only whitespace and punctuation characters are normalised.
Why do smart quotes cause problems?
Curly quotes (“ ” ‘ ’) are multi-byte characters that many forms, spreadsheets and code files don't expect. If a pasted value refuses to match or compile, straightening the punctuation is often the fix.
Does it remove duplicate lines too?
No — that is a separate job. Use the Duplicate Line Remover when you also need repeated lines removed; this tool only fixes spacing and punctuation.
Is my text stored anywhere?
No. Cleaning runs entirely in your browser as you type — your text is never sent to a server or saved by Jivora.
